Ok, now I'm at the point where I'm thinking ''This has gone by really really fast''. Seems a little silly since it was just last month that I was saying ''How is she not older yet?'' :) I still kind of think that, but at the same time saying that I have a FIVE month old sounds insane.
She's celebrating her 5 month birthday by having an ear infection in both ears. Awesome. She has been a really ridiculous sleeper for the past month or so, but her ears were fine at her 4 month appointment so we didn't think that was the problem. But for the past few weeks she has been a really picky eater, too... Like, eating less than 20 ounces a day some days. Most days, really. She is having cereal now, but not enough to make up for the lack of formula she's been getting.
SO, today after she slept for exactly 25 minutes for her morning nap, and me wanting to pull my hair out, I made her an appointment and I'm really glad I did. I was actually expecting the doctor to tell me that she was fine and that this is just how she's going to be for now :) BUT, instead he wrote a prescription for some antibiotics which I'll go pick up soon. He also gave us some gentle ease formula to mix with her regular formula for a week to hopefully offset any stomach troubles from the medicine.
PERFECT timing for us to go out of town for the weekend, right? She and I are off on our first daddy-less adventure tomorrow by going to Des Moines for the weekend to hang out with my family. Hopefully she does ok. And me.
Last night's sleeping almost made me want to just forget about it and stay here, but I'll just have to suck it up if she doesn't sleep well I guess. Doesn't really make a difference where she's having a rough night I guess, right?
She's adorable and hilarious and still a very happy baby the majority of the time. She cracks us up. But, the sleeping has definitely gone downhill starting at about 3.5 months. I was hoping it was a phase at first, but... it's still going on. She actually slept really really well Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, but last night was awful.
She scoots all over the place now and scooted herself halfway under our TV stand this morning. Just her legs. She wasn't fussing so I just left her there for a while to see what she would do. She eventually realized she was stuck so I went to get her out. I think she was having fun moving around the room though. She was off onto the wood floor so she was scooting backwards with very little effort since the floors are much more slippery than being on the rug. Hilarious.
She doesn't get up on her knees to try to crawl yet, but she straightens her legs out and lifts herself up off the floor sometimes. I've only seen it a couple of times this past week, but she's definitely moving in the right direction.
She is getting really good at sitting on her own. Still loses her balance quite a bit but she is getting close.
We like her. A lot. Some nights more than others, but what are you gonna do? :)
She's my buddy.
Oh, and I've been a headband making machine this week. Michael is frightened.
Wish us luck this weekend!
