I am obsessed with these bird mobiles, I'm pretty sure I've shown a picture of them before...

Seriously, I love it so much... and I WILL make one of these for my future child, I can tell you that right now.

The other day, after staring at these adorable birds for probably twenty minutes and wishing I had a bird mobile above my bed, I decided to try and make one.

The directions that I read said to hand sew these babies, but I used my sewing machine... so maybe that's why mine did not turn out as good as these did.

Here is my first attempt... I just grabbed some random fabric out of my box and cut the pieces.

Starting to pin it together... Blurry picture, sorry.

Finished bird!

I didn't realize until the next day when I decided to try another one that the tail is not supposed to be stuffed. So that is part of the reason why I felt my first one looked goofy. And I think I WAY over stuffed the entire bird, so it looks pretty lumpy.

The second one didn't turn out a ton better. And I wasn't too worried about making these look real nice because I'm just trying them out... so excuse the obvious seam on the tail.

I will try again another day. Tomorrow maybe. I am determined to get these right. It frustrates me so much when things don't turn out the way they are supposed to. Grr. Maybe I'll even try to hand sew one and see if it turns out better.

I'm kind of hoping it doesn't, because using the sewing machine is so much faster :) I didn't really take my time on either of these birds. And, like I said, I was just kind of messing around and trying it out. If I ever get serious about making a mobile, I will try a lot harder. But they are fine to make, so I'm having fun practicing :)
