It's Christmas Time!

I wrapped some Christmas presents this weekend. I decided this year instead of buying lots of cute wrapping paper, I just wanted to wrap presents in brown Scotch packaging paper and buy pretty bows and things. So that's what I did.

I also used my Cricut to make tags for each package. I'm kind of in love with them.

Christmas is the best.

Grandparent's 60th Anniversary

My sister and I were in charge of the decorations for my grandparents 60th anniversary party last weekend. We both cut out leaves using our Cricut's, then I put together the cans and trees, and she made the banner.

This is how it turned out:

The banner... that you can't really see in this picture, but it looked cute.

Look how cute my grandparents are!!

And my nieces, who decided to take a nap in the middle of the floor.

My cousin Jordan being cool.

Thank goodness people liked them enough to take most of them home with them so I didn't have to drag them all back with me.

I think they turned out good though... I liked them. It made me wish I got to decorate for parties more often :)

Michael is going to come home some day to find our apartment completely decorated for something crazy... like a repeat of Valentine's Day perhaps? Except better.

Meh.

That's kind of how I feel about this post...

I painted a couple of pictures for Michael's parent's new dining room. I don't know how I feel about them, but I think this is as good as they are going to get. Hopefully she will like them.

I started out painting three different canvases... One got thrown away because it made me angry. It had oranges and cherries on it, and it was just not cute. I think she was really hoping for 3 different pictures, but I never told her I was doing three for sure... I'm hoping she is ok with just getting two... I'm sure she will be.

Here they are... My first attempt at painting fruit. Yikes.

I don't know why these pictures uploaded so tiny.

They are 20" by 24", so hopefully they will take up enough wall space to satisfy her. And I'm hoping there won't end up being room for the missing third canvas...

No more fruit for me for a while...

Can I have all of these things... now. Please?

I'm still alive! And I have been sitting here for about an hour straight as I keep coming across the most ridiculous and amazing pictures on various blogs and websites.

I have to share them. There is one in particular that I think is so hilarious and awesome that I have to save it for last. You'll probably be disappointed when you see what it is, but man... I think it's great.

Here I go...

This is a real house. That people live in. And it looks like a pumpkin. That's about all I have to say about this...

I don't know why anyone would want to live in an upside down house, but it sure is fun to look at.

This cat has no idea how awesome his bed is. What a fool.

This is just too cute...

Um... I need this fireplace. It is one of the coolest things ever. It would not look this cute in my bathroom, but still. It's adorable and awesome and I want it.

This woodslice walkway makes me want to live in a cottage in the forest more than I ever have before in my whole entire life. And I've been wanting to life in a forest since I was born I'm pretty sure.

This looks like one of the coziest places in the world to me. It probably isn't, but it just looks so fluffy and amazing.

I absolutely do not ever want a toilet like this... ever. But it's still pretty impressive that someone took the time to do this.

Can you imagine what the rest of this house looks like if this is their bedroom???

Quite possibly one of the scariest things I have ever seen, and my kids will never ever ever ever have one of these... but how funny is this? And what mother knitted this for her child?? What the heck.

There is nothing all that special or interesting about this, I just like when things are organized really nicely so this picture made me happy :)

Gah.... I love this. So much. Everything about it.

I think if I had this mug I would just sit there and continuously eat and refill that little space with cookies...

I LOVE TREES AND BOOKS. I need this. Michael will build this for me some day, just you wait and see.

And last but not least...

This is no ordinary magic wand, my friends. This is a REMOTE CONTROL. I need this. You have no idea how much joy I would get out of flicking this wand to change the channel on my TV... oh my goodness. I can't allow myself to spend $85 on it unfortunately, but holy cow... how fun would this be? I seriously can't get over it. Need it. Now. Pronto.

I have more pictures, but I am saving them for a later date.

Get excited.

Cork boards!

Here is a small project Michael and I did for his sister's wedding, which is coming up very quickly! 13 more days!

They are going to be using cork boards at their reception to help organize/display their seating arrangements. They are going to print everybody's name on a paint chip that they sneakily took from home improvement stores, and then pin them to these boards.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, it will be somewhat like this... except they have individual cards for 5-6 different colors, and they have gold labels that they are putting on the cards. And they are printing the names off of their computer. I am bad at explaining things.

Anyways... like this:

So, a couple weekends ago we went with them and bought cork boards and fabric. I wasn't going to spray paint the edges, but then I noticed that there were words printed onto the frame and decided that that wouldn't look very cute. So I bought brown spray paint, which looks great, but it's chipping off pretty badly. I was going to try to fix it before they took them home, but Sarah thought they would be ok the way they are. So... they're done I suppose.

Michael actually spray painted them for me. He has more experience with spray paint since he has painted about a billion of these little guys :

He spray paints them black first, then does all of the detail work. He is probably reading this and laughing at me, but he really does do a good job painting them.

So anyways, here are the finished boards. I don't have very good pictures of them, but you get the idea.

This one is much more true to color than the first.

This one is too dark to really tell, but it's an ivory color with gold specks in it. It's much prettier than it looks in this picture. I think they turned out pretty good, and they look good together and with the paint chips. So I'm hoping they like them and that they will still look good when they are set up at the reception!

These are the paint chips they are going to be using.

So yeah. I am excited to see how they look at the wedding!

I'm glad we could do something to help out, even if it was something small like this.

Finished quilt. Finally.

Here I am!

I have no idea if anyone reads this, but I'll continue to pretend that they do.

Well, I finally finished my quilt... I actually finished it a few weeks ago, but I decided today that I'd go make myself take some pictures of it and share them. I'm pretty sure my mom would be the only one who really cares to see these pictures, but... oh well. You get to see them too.

Here it is. I didn't make the quilt intending for it to be a quilt for our bed. I just wanted a big comfy blanket to have around... but it's made it's way onto our bed and I figured we'd just leave it there. So I make the bed every morning with the quilt on there and it looks decent, so it's going to stay. For now at least.

This is only the second quilt I have ever made, and I'm not super impressed with my quilting skills but I am pretty happy with both of my quilts actually. If you look closely at them they are definitely not pretty, but they look ok from a distance :) There are a couple of places on this quilt that are already coming apart. I apparently sewed too close to the edge of the fabric which makes me sad because it's going to be annoying to have to fix it. But, oh well. It shouldn't be too big of a deal.

I had a hard time picking out the fabric for the backing and binding. The top of the quilt is so busy and has so many different kinds of fabric I figured I'd be safe picking basically anything, but it was a much harder decision than I imagined... I like the fabric I picked for the back but I'm not totally convinced that it looks that great. But again, I really don't care that much. As a whole, I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

So yeah. It's done. I'm happy. But now I'm ready to make something else and I don't know what to make besides another quilt. I'll probably end up making another one sometime soon.

I was at my sister's today and she has a chair of my mom's in their basement storage room that I LOVE. She said we could have it, so I decided maybe some day we'll take it. However, one of their dogs chewed off part of the arm, and I'm not sure how it will look if we refinish the entire thing... which we would have to do if we want it to look good. I feel like it would be ok, but I didn't take a very good look at it.

And I would also want to reupholster it... so I'm looking at fabric online, but it is such a hard decision! I haven't shared any of this information with Michael yet by the way... he didn't even know I told Kristin we'd take the chair until he heard her telling Jeremy :) Woops.

The chair definitely has potential. I have always loved it... We had it in our house growing up. I had kind of forgotten Kristin even had it until today. The fabric that's on it right now isn't even that bad... it would just be fun to get to pick out new fabric to put on it.

I wish I had a picture of the chair to show you... It has wooden arms and legs and that's about the best I am going to be able to explain it :)

But look at these ridiculously adorable chairs from Target... TARGET, for goodness sakes... Target also sells some pretty cute wallpaper now too... Who knew?

So cute, right? I like them.

I'll probably never even end up reupholstering the chair... I have no idea when we'll even have room for it. We definitely don't have room in this apartment... We need a house so I can do cute things to it.

Someone give me $150,000 right now please.

Thanks.

Nursery Ideas

**EDIT**
CLICK HERE for a newer Nursery Ideas post.

It's been too long.

I was on vacation for a while, but really I am just too lazy and too uninteresting to think of things to write about.

But here I am. Every time I sign on here I go to Design Dazzle and look at all of the cool kid's rooms... and I tend to spend more time looking at nursery's than anything else.

So I'm just going to share some of my favorites. I have babies on the brain pretty badly... and yes I save all of my favorite nursery's to my computer so I can remember then for when I have a cute little baby. Which will hopefully be soonish :)

Anywho, here they are!

I have always wanted a chandelier in my baby's room, and I am loving this one. Plus the angel wings above the crib is absolutely precious.

There isn't anything about this one that I don't love. I love that shade of blue, and this color of blue and any shade of brown has become one of my new favorite color combinations. This is not really "brown" I suppose, but it's definitely still adorable. I would live in this room. I love that style of window shades, too.

I love this one too. I'm not a huge fan of white furniture, but all of the furniture in the nursery's I've posted so far look soooo good in white. So maybe I don't dislike it as much as I thought. But I LOVE the greens in this one.

I LOVE that they painted the wall behind the shelves green, and the blue ceiling is adorable as well.

I am obsessed with really girly nursery's, but I don't think I would ever do one like this. But look how beautiful it is!!! I love the dresser. And that mirror... ah.

I LOVE this wall. Those are fake flowers glued to the wall... or maybe they are just tacked on. Tacking them on would be the smart thing to do and would definitely be what I would do if I were to make this.

This one is really cool and I am obsessed with the rug... It's ridiculous. And I WILL be making my baby a bird mobile. That is the one thing I have planned for my future child :) I have to do it. This room would be really easy to transition into an older kid's room, too. I like that.

I don't know how anyone could not be in love with this.

I like that that chair is a rocker, but it doesn't look very comfortable...

This one isn't really a favorite of mine. I love the colors, and I love the big chair, and again I love the white crib... but I'm not a big fan of the wall with the squares or the ceiling. It definitely looks really really cool, but... it would drive me crazy I think. It's just too much for me.

And here is one that I'm sure some (most?) people will think is really cute, but... way too much pink for my taste.

No thanks.

Anyways... Basically I need a baby so I can decorate a nusery.

Agreed?
